Community Outreach

Communities across the Chicago area rely on HAS to provide effective treatment, outreach, and support for those who need it most.

At HAS, we are committed to meeting individuals where they are—physically, emotionally, and socially. Our outreach programs are designed to address critical health and social challenges through direct community engagement and support.

Our Community Health Worker (CHW) Initiative focuses on addressing the social determinants of health by connecting community members to essential services. This includes referrals for nutrition assistance, housing resources, primary care, mental health, and job support—ensuring individuals and families can access the tools they need to thrive.

Through targeted outreach in communities most impacted by the opioid crisis, our Harm Reduction team provides life-saving Narcan distribution and overdose reversal training. We also offer harm reduction supplies and collaborate with local and statewide coalitions to expand access to critical resources and education.

HAS’ Gambling Disorder Outreach team leads prevention and education efforts through extensive community engagement. We raise awareness about gambling risks and connect individuals to treatment and support services.

Our Homeless Outreach team works directly with individuals experiencing housing instability, offering compassionate support and linkage to shelter, healthcare, mental health services, and long-term stabilization resources.
