Substance
AbusE - Youth Services Program
The
Youth Services Program is for Adolescents from the
ages of 12 to 18 who could benefit from substance
abuse/chemical dependency treatment services on an
outpatient basis. Adolescents who are appropriate
for this service are able to remain abstinent from
drugs and alcohol without the need for a highly intensive
outpatient program and/or a residential program. These
services are culturally competent, gender and age
specific, and bilingual.
Youth
receive comprehensive assessments by skilled professionals
in order to find the best match between degree of
need and services recommended. Those who are admitted
into HAS’s outpatient substance abuse program
receive group counseling sessions on a weekly basis,
and may receive individual and family sessions as
needed.
In
addition to working closely with families the treatment
team works collaboratively with schools, and the appropriate
referral sources. Within these treatment modalities
clients receive educational seminars regarding HIV/AIDS,
STD awareness, stress and anger management, life skills
management, other coping strategy development, healthy
recreational skill development, and problem-solving
techniques to help them deal with early recovery issues
in a positive way without resorting to the use of
drugs and or alcohol.
For
individuals recovering from substance abuse addiction,
self-help groups are a critical part of the treatment
plan. We also coordinate services with Juvenile Probation,
school and Police Department when appropriate.
