AbusE - Intensive Outpatient Treatment
We
have four treatment sites where gender-specific Intensive
Outpatient services are offered. These services are
designed for individuals who have significant addiction
symptoms, are medically stable, and not in need of
detox or residential services, and can be expected
to remain abstinent in an intensive and highly structured
outpatient program.
The
purpose of treatment is to educate clients about the
disease process of alcoholism and drug addiction,
to help them understand and accept their own chemical
dependence, to explore with them alternative life-styles
that do not include alcohol and drug use, and to help
them create their own recovery plan. Family involvement
in treatment is critical since the quality of sobriety
is very influenced by the quality of the relationships
within the family.
Each
client receives educational seminars regarding the
many aspects of addiction, as well as individual,
group, employer, and family sessions. Attendance at
self-help groups (AA,NA,CA) is also considered an
important adjunct to treatment.
HAS
offers treatment services in both Spanish and English
and provides AA groups in English and Spanish (1x
per week within the agency). Clients are expected
to attend outside groups as well, as it is important
that they begin to build a support system and to establish
healthier relationships in a drug-free environment.
