M.I.S.A
(Mental Health and Substance Abuse)
HAS
provides integrated substance abuse and mental health
services for clients who are dually diagnosed (co-existing
substance abuse and mental health disorders). Utilizing
specially trained clinicians and an on-site psychiatrist
who will prescribe needed psychiatric medications,
the treatment team is able to monitor the client's
progress, and is able to address both illnesses in
one treatment setting.
Clients
receive a variety of services including educational
seminars, individual, group, and family counseling
to help the individual better understand their condition
and to help him/her develop a sobriety/recovery program
that will take both disorders into account.
This
program is offered in both English and Spanish and
is developed in a culturally sensitive format. HAS
is part of a consortium of 13 member agencies on both
the North and South sides of Chicago. Their mission
is to integrate services for the dually diagnosed
client within the consortium rather than within a
specific agency.
