In addition to services devoted to clients with substance abuse disorders, HAS has always taken a leadership position in advocating for stronger family ties and the overall well-being of our communities.

The programming in this section helps to illustrate our commitment to the family and the viability of the community. This holistic approach takes into account that while an individual client needs treatment services the family and community are also very deeply affected by substance abuse, under-employment, poverty, higher crime rates, higher levels of child abuse, and broken families as well as other issues that affect underserved groups of individuals. As a result all of these arenas must be addressed together for healthy change to occur at all of these levels.

Not listed in this section are special events that HAS sponsors including the organization of a community health fair as well as participation in other health fairs, community awareness programs, and fundraising programs for services needed in the community. We are also involved in criminal justice programs to help individuals develop healthier lifestyles.
