Delta Program

Substance abuse is often a coping strategy for women who are victims/survivors of domestic violence. This unique program integrates both substance abuse and domestic violence treatment into the same program. The program is offered at both Rainbow House (a domestic violence shelter) and at HAS in Chicago.

Conversely women receiving services for a substance abuse disorder are also screened for domestic violence issues. If the individual has experienced domestic violence in the past or is currently in a domestic violence situation these specialized services are offered. Because there are so many barriers to disclosure, all of the women receive integrated group treatment and individual sessions as needed.

Education, prevention, and coping strategies are included. The Delta Team of clinicians made up of a coordinator, Substance Abuse Counselor, and DV Specialists provide coordinated treatment under one treatment plan.

In addition, HAS collaborates with and provides treatment services for domestic violence to individuals who are involved with services at Rainbow House Shelter in Chicago.
