Transitional Housing
HAS believes that a stable environment is critical in recovery from substance abuse or dependence. The goal of the Transitional Housing Program (THP) is to provide a stable housing environment together with caring, personalized case management that encourages independence and self-sufficiency. Treatment at THP is evidence-based and employs proven cognitive-behavioral techniques.
THP is geared toward Spanish-speaking, homeless males who have been diagnosed with substance abuse dependence, and is open to individuals who have completed detoxification or residential services, are participating in outpatient treatment, and are committed to taking part in sustained aftercare activities. It focuses on recovery elements including health, education, skills development, employment, and access to community resources. Participants engage in Cognitive Behavioral Relapse Prevention, 12-Step Facilitation Therapy, volunteer service, and weekly house help AA/NA groups. Spanish-language Bible study is also available. The program is staffed by a Program Manager, Recovery Coach, Team Leader, Housing Consultant, and support staff. Participation may last from ninety days to a year, depending on individual needs and circumstances.
