Help us serve more people who are struggling with mental illness, domestic violence and substance use.  We can make an even bigger impact together.

H.A.S. has been serving the Chicago area’s most vulnerable communities for decades and made meaningful strides in supporting those affected by substance use, mental illness and domestic violence every year.  But in 2020-21, COVID caused a tragic level of isolation, vulnerability and healthcare system stress without precedent.

It was devastating and the neighborhoods we serve are still trying to recover.  H.A.S. and our dedicated team are up to the task, but critical funding is needed.Your tax-deductible contribution can help us ensure individuals and families from all backgrounds – especially those without insurance or financial stability – can get the help they desperately need and begin a path to recovery.

In 2020-21

  • For the first time, more than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdose in a single year. Overdose deaths have more than doubled since 2015.
  • Americans suffered from depression and anxiety at rates six times higher than in 2019.
  • The Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline received 16% more calls and 25x more text messages  for help.
