HAS is seeking candidates to fill the following position:

Accountant

Essential Functions:

Under the supervision of the Controller,  performs all accounting procedures:

Prepares accurate and timely financial reports for monthly and year end close;

Develops projections and ensures that the budget, budget revisions, and /or budget requests are prepared within guidelines and are submitted within the established time frames.

 File reports necessary to comply with State law and Federal regulations for audits of recipients of Federal grants;

Audits department accounting data, identifies and corrects errors, identifies and computes accruals, applies accounting principles to transactions, and recommends revisions in accounting procedures to ensure conformance with applicable statues, laws, and General Accepted Accounting Principles;

Assures all reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner;

Demonstrates initiative to assist in improvement of departmental functions;

Provides special analysis as assigned by Controller;

Assists Controller in preparing for the annual independent audit including schedules, work papers, documentation, etc.

Qualifications:

BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting from an accredited college or university;

CPA Preferred;

Experience (3-5 years) as an Accountant; social service or  not-for-profit experience is preferred;

PC proficient with excellent  skills in MS Word and Excel;

Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
